Best naps

Sometimes you just need someone to lay on for a nap.

G.G. came to read to Livia

Livia had lots of visitors while we were at Grandma and Grandpa's house. G.G. came out almost everyday we were here. Saturday night G.G. read her a book - Livia does lots of reading and she comes from a long line of teachers who make sure she has lots of books.

Long Visit to Iowa

Livia and Mommy were in Iowa for a long weekend. Our friends Kristin and Grayson were back from Arizona and Grandpa was playing in his old band too.

Thursday night Liv, Mommy, Grandma and Grandpa went to Grayson's Grandma and Grandpa's house to have dinner. Grayson was a hoot! I wish I would've gotten a picture of the look he gave Livie when she starting yelling and fussing - priceless; he looked confused and really bothered. It was good to see them!

Naps

Livia is pretty sure she can get by in baby life with just a couple of very short naps throughout the day. One way she likes to relax is by pulling her drooler/huggy/taggie over her face and just lay there - it makes Mommy nervous and she looks like an enemy combatant too. The other day she decided she'd just grab a snooze in her exersaucer. Whatever it takes!

More smiles

A Smile on Camera

Some of you might have thought that Livia really doesn't smile but she does! Daddy had to trick her but what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

KU vs CU

Daddy got tickets last minute to the KU game on Saturday. Uncle Tyler and Courtney said they would watch the Prankster Baby for us so we could go watch the future National Champions. When we got home she was on outfit number three - which was the one Uncle Tyler put together all by himself (outfit number two is the one she's wearing in the carrier). In his defense when you have a wiggly baby who just pottied on herself on the changing table you just grab what you can! They did a great job and we're so glad they were able to spend time with Liv.

A Quick Walk

Last week we were able to grab a quick walk. Sure she walked in her pajamas with a jacket over it - nobody seemed to mind.

Valentine's Day

We had a busy Valentine's Day. We went to Junction City to visit Papa and Gigi. They made us a great lunch and we played for awhile with them, Nicki and Grayson. We luckily missed the crazy roads they were having in Kansas City and had a very safe drive back. When we got back to town we delivered Sarah's Valentine's Day gift to her sorority (Sarah is Liv's babysitter) and had pizza for dinner.

No More Bumbo

Livia can no longer sit in her bumbo seat; she now tries to hurl herself out the back of it so to prevent injury we've taken it away. Now she has to practice sitting up with her boppy on the couch. She's getting so close!

How much does she love her paci?

She loves it so much she tries to suck on it even when it's not in her mouth (in the videos she's making the mouth movements like she's sucking on the paci). If she's awake and Mommy takes it out of her mouth for a picture she'll just suck on her bottom lip.

Some just for fun pics

We don't really have a theme for this post, just some random pictures. I was just texting a friend that Livia is on a nap strike and then she fell right to sleep - wonderful. When she's up I'll get her bundled up and go for a nice walk since the sun is shining for a second day in NE Kansas.

Huggy and Birthday Buddy

Livia has a "Birthday Buddy" - she shares an October 13th birthday with her Great-Great Aunt Karen. Birthday Buddy gave Livia a little teething blanket that has the potential to become a Linus blanket. Livie tries to stuff the whole thing in her mouth while giving it nice baby hugs. I think I wash her huggy at least five times a week because it gets such a workout - the huggy's only saving grace is that Liv's not allowed to sleep with it.

Four Month Check-Up

Stats:
Height: 25 inches (77% percentile)
Weight: 14 pounds, 4 ounces (65% percentile)

During our visit with Dr. Riordan (he is the BEST pediatrican ever) we got the green light to start solids so we'll start some rice cereal in a few weeks. He also said her rash was heat rash - only Livia would get heat rash when it was 2 degrees with the wind-chill today! She's such a healthy little baby which is wonderful! He'd admitted two kids to the hospital with pneumonia today and worked on one in the office so we're just thankful Liv wasn't one of them. Dr. R told us she was teething, which we already knew and he said she looked so alert and we've been saying that since the beginning. She was a brave baby during her shots, one oral and three in the chubby thighs; she didn't cry when the first needle went in but when the nurse pushed the actual vaccine in the tears started. She really didn't cry too long and was rewarded with a new shirt and socks from babyGap when she was finished. We go back in a month to have one more vaccine (somehow we fell behind) and then she'll have more at her six month visit. Dr. Riordan did say we have to break her of sleeping in the carseat in the new two months; her reflux hasn't been flaring up lately so we'll work on that soon. We're so lucky to have such a healthy, smart, strong and pretty little baby.
