Exersaucer and a Lazy Saturday

Last Saturday we had a very lazy day around the house; we made a bunch of soup in the crockpot and watched basketball.

Liv has been spending more time in her exersaucer. She does a great job of holding her head up but she's still a little too little for all of the bells and whistles that come with it. Is there anything Baby Einstein makes that isn't at our house?

Most recent trip to Iowa

Mommy took Livia to Iowa to see Grandma and Grandpa while Daddy was in Florida for work. We missed an ice storm by one day when Grandma had a snow day from school but at least the roads were clear when we drove up. G.G., UZ and Aunt Leslie all came out to see the Livster. We had a great visit and for some reason she really liked her tummy time in Iowa; maybe it was her new sleep gown - when Mommy's friends Benny and Sara were visiting we found one with meerkats on it. You'll notice the drool faucet turns on when she's on her tummy now.

Mommy back to work

Mommy's been working whenever she can find time from home but we really start next week. Sarah will start coming to the house so I can work from home; I've known Sarah since she was a little girl when I used to babysit for her cousins and her dad is from Oakland too. Sarah is now a sophomore at KU and just got back from studying abroad in Europe and New Zealand - our house will be really boring compared to that. For the Danish relatives, you'll be happy to know that Sarah spent a week in Denmark over the summer :) Bobi, Livie's grandma, will be at the house with her on Tuesdays while Mommy does her long day in the office in Overland Park. We're excited to get going - KU Med is keeping Mommy and her partner really busy.

Visit from Papa Steve

A few weeks ago Papa Steve brought dinner and came to visit Livia for a few hours. Livia sure had fun!

New Tricks

Livia has been working very hard on her new party tricks. She now picks up things with a purpose; she really likes the rattle and she shakes it "like a poloroid picture" only hitting herself in the face occasionally. She's so close to rolling over and sitting up. She likes to sit up to look at the baby in the mirror - she looks so different from that angle.

More from our photo session in November

Even though these are a few months old now this is what we now have at our house. We have a great photographer who put the picture of the three of us on canvas and it's so cool (I took a picture of the pictures on the wall). Once again, don't tell her I ripped off the images!

Already?

We think Miss Liv is teething. Already. It's been such a pleasure to be with her today - I should have let her sleep as long as she wanted this morning! She's a hot mess but she sure is cute and very strong.

Bedtime Update

Livia has slept in her room, all by herself, for the past two nights. This morning I had to wake her up at 9 so she could eat breakfast. She's going down without too much a fuss and Mommy actually got a bit of sleep last night too. I'm really afraid I won't hear her on the monitor if I really fall asleep.

These pictures are from yesterday, we were trying to catch a smile. She's like Chandler Bing and stops smiling the instant she sees a camera. Some of you may remember what my brother Zach looked like as a baby, if you don't - Livie looks almost exactly like him except she has blue eyes. She was even wearing the special outfit he picked out for her.

Just fun shots

These are just some random pictures. There's one of her "whistling" and blowing bubbles; she really likes blowing bubbles these days and making boat sounds while she does it. It's so fun to see her try out new things. Oh, and a picture of a meltdown - we try to keep it real on this blog :)

Our Christmas Present

When we did Liv's pictures we did a few family ones as well and we had a few that turned out really well. Our photographer did the family picture on canvas and we love it! She also did a series of three photos, one with Livie and Daddy, just Liv and one of Livie and Mommy. I hope you can see them in these pics.

Bumbo Baby

Livia has started splitting tummy time with bumbo time. She's not sure if she likes it yet but I think she likes it better than tummy time. Babies with reflux who spit up a bunch and tummy time lead to many messes on the exercise mat.

Bad Habit

Livie has picked up a bad habit we're trying to break. She now grabs onto her blanket when she's hanging out and pulling it over her face or trying to suck on it. The blanket and mirror can no longer be her babysitter while we're making dinner or doing laundry.

She's still asleep in her room all by herself! What a big girl.
